Who is He?

Who is he, who treads on the waves of the sea,
And guides the ships of the sea, safely home?
The disciples had gone to Capurnaum,
But Jesus went up the mountain to pray,
And when evening came, he was quite alone.
A storm blew up, the sea grew rough and wild,
And three miles out his friends were on board a boat.
Who is he, who treads on the waves of the sea,
And calms the storm?
What is his name? What is his name?
And what’s the name of his son?
Who is he, who treads on the waves of the sea,
And guides the ships of the sea, safely home?
The disciples strained at their oars,
To keep on rowing the boat,
But the mighty wind of God blew strong against them.
Then at the fourth watch, Jesus went out on the sea;
He walked on the waves, but made to pass them by.
Who is he, who treads on the waves of the sea,
And calms the storm?
What is his name? What is his name?
And what’s the name of his son?
Who is he, who treads on the waves of the sea,
And guides the ships of the sea, safely home?
And what they saw on the water
Caused them to cry out loud;
They were terrified, they thought he was a ghost.
“Take courage” he said, “It is I, don’t be afraid.”
And as he climbed in the boat, the wind it died away.
Who is he, who treads on the waves of the sea,
And calms the storm?
What is his name? What is his name?
And what’s the name of his son?
Who is he, who treads on the waves of the sea,
And guides the ships of the sea, safely home?
God is he, who treads on the waves of the sea.
And Jesus God’s son guides his people home.
