I am the good shepherd

8

I am the Good Shepherd;

My sheep they listen to my voice.

I call them by name and lead them out.

They’ll never follow a stranger,

For they don’t recognise his voice.

Like a robber or thief they’ll run away from him.

Now Jesus said again and again:

I’ll lay down my life for the sheep.

I’ll lay down my life, lay down my life,

Lay down my life for the sheep.

No-one takes it from me,

I lay it down of my own accord.

My Father gives authority

To take it up again.

And the truth I will tell you,

That I’m the gate for the sheep.

Whoever enters through me will be saved.

They will come in and find pasture,

And freely they’ll go out.

I’ve come to give them life and life that’s full.

For Jesus said again and again:

I’ll lay down my life for the sheep.

I’ll lay down my life, lay down my life,

Lay down my life for the sheep.

No-one takes it from me,

I lay it down of my own accord.

My Father gives authority

To take it up again.

I am The Good Shepherd;

I lay down my life for the sheep.

The hired hand is not the shepherd that owns the sheep.

For when he sees the wolf coming.

He leaves them and runs away.

He’s a hired hand, cares nothing for the sheep.

Now Jesus said again and again:

I’ll lay down my life for the sheep.

I will lay down my life, lay down my life,

Lay down my life for the sheep.

No-one takes it from me,

I lay it down of my own accord.

My Father gives authority

To take it up again.

I am The Good Shepherd

And I have got more sheep,

And I must bring them safely in like you.

There is only one shepherd

And just one flock it’s true,

And I’ve laid aside my life because of you.

Jesus said again and again:

Lay down my life for the sheep.

I will lay down my life, lay down my life,

Lay down my life for the sheep.

No-one takes it from me,

I lay it down of my own accord.

My Father gives authority

To take it up again.
