And his face was bright as the sun

3g

Up on a high mountain one day,

Jesus took his disciples to pray.

And as Jesus was praying

As he had just begun

His clothes became as white as light

His face shone like the sun.

And his face was bright as the sun,

And his clothes like lightning shone.

This Jesus with Peter and James and John.

Moses and Elijah were there,

Dressed in their great splendour they stood there.

They spoke of Jesus’ departure

And how his life would end

And how that all would be fulfilled

By him in Jerusalem.

And his face was bright as the sun,

And his clothes like lightning shone.

This Jesus with Peter and James and John.

Peter said ‘O Lord it’s good we’re here.

I can build three shelters, build them near;

One can be for Moses

One for Elijah too

And one can be a shelter Lord,

I’ll build it just for You.

And his face was bright as the sun,

And his clothes like lightning shone.

This Jesus with Peter and James and John.

Peter did not know just what he’d said

A cloud came over the mountain, covered their heads.

A voice from heaven was calling

To them in their distress.

“This is my beloved Son

Listen to what he says.”

And His face was bright as the sun,

And His clothes like lightning shone.

This Jesus with Peter and James and John.

Now when the voice out of heaven spoke to them,

They fell right down to the ground as frightened men.

But Jesus came and touched them,

He said “Don’t be afraid”

And when they looked, they were alone

The law and prophets gone.

And His face was bright as the sun,

And His clothes like lightning shone.

This Jesus with Peter and James and John.

In former times God spoke in various ways.

Through Moses and the prophets of those days.

But now he speaks through Jesus,

His one and only Son

He’s the radiance of the Father’s glory.

They are the Three in One.

And His face was bright as the sun,

And His clothes like lightning shone.

This Jesus with Peter and James and John.
