It was before the dawn of time

It was before the dawn of time

That God conceived a plan,

To save the whole of Adam’s race

For sin had ruined man.

Isaiah spoke of Emmanuel

A Son to us is born

And he will be our Saviour

Born on Christmas morn.

And at his birth the angels came

And glory shone around.

And to the shepherds spoke a word

As they crouched on the ground.

Men do not be afraid

For there is good news and great joy.

In Bethlehem a Saviour’s born

A baby boy.

And this will be a sign to you,

You’ll find him wrapped in cloth

And lying in a manger

Which serves as an ox’s trough.

And then the whole of heaven rang out

Glory to God on high

And peace be on the earth.

Their singing filled the sky.

And though all these long years have passed

Men still walk in the Way,

Remembering the birth of Christ

On that first Christmas Day.

For he is still the Saviour of the world

And we proclaim.

That he is Lord of all

So we will praise his name
