Psalm 142: I cry aloud to the LORD

I cry aloud to the Lord,
I cry aloud to the Lord,
I lift up my voice to the Lord, for mercy.
I cry aloud to the Lord,
I cry aloud to the Lord,
I lift up my voice to the Lord, for mercy.
I pour out my complaint before him,
Before him I tell my trouble.
When my spirit grows faint within me,
When my spirit grows faint within me,
When my spirit grows faint within me,
It is you who know my way.
In the path where I walk,
The path where I. walk
Men have hidden a snare for me.
In the path where I walk,
The path where I walk.
Men have hidden a snare for me.
Lord
Look to my right and see
No-one’s concerned for me.
I have no refuge and no-one cares,
I have no refuge and no-one cares,
I have no refuge and no-one cares,
No-one cares for my life.
I cry to you O Lord,
I cry to you O Lord,
You are my refuge O Lord,
I cry to you O Lord,
I cry to you O Lord,
For you are my refuge, my portion,
In the land of the living.
Listen to my cry
For I am in desperate need.
Rescue me from those who pursue me,
Rescue me from those who pursue me,
Rescue me from those who pursue me,
For they are too strong for me.
Set me free from my prison,
Set me free from my prison,
That I may praise your name O Lord.
Set me free from my prison,
Set me free from my prison,
Then I will praise your name O Lord.
Then the righteous will gather about me,
Because of your goodness to me,
Because of your goodness to me,
Because of your goodness to me,
The righteous will gather about me.
The righteous will gather about me,
The righteous will gather about me,
And I will praise your name O Lord.
The righteous will gather about me,
The righteous will gather about me
The righteous will gather about me,

Psalm 142 Reflection
From the Lion Handbook of the Bible (2002)
The Hebrew title (A Maskil of David. When he was in the cave. A prayer. ) links this psalm with the time David was on the run and hiding from Saul in a cave ( 1 Samuel 23:19 ff). He cries to the One who knows all about him: the Lord his refuge.
