How lovely is your dwelling place,

 O Lord Almighty God
My soul yearns, even faints
To dwell within your courts O Lord.

My heart and flesh cry out to you

To you the living God.

And blest are all who’re in your home

They’re ever praising you.

And even little sparrows
Find a home where they can rest.
And swallows when they have their young,

Will make for them a nest.

How blessed are those whose strength’s in you

Who’re set on pilgrimage,
As they pass through the desert wastes
They find a place of springs.

The autumn rain falls down on it
And covers it with pools.
And they go on from strength to strength,

Until they meet their God

So hear my prayer almighty God

And listen to me Lord
Look on us LORD and be our shield

Bring favour to us Lord.

Far better is one day with you
Inside your courts O God,
Than thousands spent away from you

Of thousands spent elsewhere.
I’d rather be a doorkeeper
Inside the house of God
Than dwell amidst the wicked
In the tents of evil men.

For the Lord he is
My sun, my shield, his blessing brings

Of honour and great favour.
Of his goodness I will sing. (x2)
