O God don't stand aloof,

Or turn a deaf ear to me;

O God do not keep silent any more.

LORD see how our foes growl

And how they rear their heads;

With cunning they conspire to bring us down.

They plot against us LORD,

Your cherished nation race;

They say let us destroy them as a nation.

They plot against us LORD,

Your cherished nation race,

So Israel's not a name that is remembered.

Together they scheme and plot

And form alliance LORD,

Against you and against all of your people.

These tents of Ishmaelites,

Of Moab, the Hagrites,

Of Edom, Byblos, Tyre, Ammon and Amalek.

They plot against us LORD,

Your cherished nation race;

Assyria has joined them in their aggression.

They plot against us LORD,

Your cherished nation race,

They reinforce the might of Lot's descendants.

They say we'll take their lands;

The pasture lands of God,

So do to them as you did once to Midian;

When at the Kishon brook,

Where Sisera was slain,

Where Jabin perished, lay like dung in Endor.

They plot against the LORD,

Your cherished nation race;

So make their nobles just like Zeeb and Oreb.

They plot against us LORD,

Your cherished nation race,

So make their princes like Zebah and Zalmuna.

Make them like tumbleweed

And chaff before the wind,

As fire consumes the forest and the mountain grass.

Pursue them with your storms

And with your tempest gales;

LORD shame them so that they will seek your name.

May they be shamed, dismayed

And perish in disgrace;

Let them know you whose name is LORD of all the earth;

That you alone are God,

The Most High over all,

That people of the earth are yours to govern.
