God presides in the great assembly;

He gives his judgement among the ‘gods’.

“How long will you favour injustice,

Show partially to wicked men?

Defend the cause of the weak and fatherless;

Maintain the rights of the poor and oppressed.

Rescue the needy, weak, deliver them,

Out of the hands of wicked men.”

They know nothing, understand nothing,

Their minds in darkness, they walk the land.

By their actions, the earth is shaken,

And its foundations they cannot stand.

“You who are ‘gods’ and the sons of the Most High,

You will die like mere men;

You will fall like every ruler.

Rise up O God upon the earth and judge men.

For the sake of nations,

For your inheritance;

For the sake of all your people,
