Shout aloud and sing for joy, for

Jacob's God our strength has been.

Play melodious music to him,

Strike the harp and tambourine.

Sound the ram's horn at the new moon

And at the full moon’s increase,

For our God Himself commanded

Us to keep this day a feast.

To remind our hearts of Egypt,

All He did for us back then,

Lest we should forget, ignoring

All He has revealed to men.

I've removed from off your shoulders

Burdens, when your hands were tied.

In distress you called, I rescued,

Came from where the thunder hides.

In the desert you were thirsty,

I from rock made water flow.

Heed, my people, to this warning,

To their foreign gods don’t go.

For I brought you out of Egypt,

Gave you food so good and free:

I, the LORD your God, am jealous:

Have no other gods but me.

But my people would not listen,

They would not submissive be:

I left them to their own devices,

Stubbornly resisting me.

If my people would just listen,

If they would just follow me,

I would raise my hand and then their

enemies and foes would flee.

Those who hate the LORD would cringe,

Be punished ever for their deeds,

But with finest wheat and honey,

I would satisfy your needs.
