Listen to me God as I bring to you my complaint;

Protect my life from enemies and threats.

Hide me from the conspiracy of the wicked;

From noisy crowds of evil doing men.

They sharpen up their tongues like swords,

Like deadly arrows aim their words;

The innocent – they will ambush them,

They shoot them for they have no fear of men.

Each other they encourage as they make their evil plans,

They talk about how they will hide their snares.

And say “No-one will see them, we’ve devised a perfect plan”.

How cunning are the hearts and minds of men.

But God will shoot them with his arrows,

Suddenly he will strike them down.

He’ll turn their tongues against them and bring ruin,

And all who see them shake their heads in scorn.

Then all mankind will fear him and proclaim the works of God

And ponder all the great things he has done.

The righteous will rejoice as they take refuge in the LORD,

And all the upright praise him in their hearts.

Yes all mankind will fear the LORD

And ponder all that he has done.

The righteous will take refuge in the LORD,

And all the upright praise him in their hearts.
