God be my fortress against those attacking me.

Save me, deliver me from those who crave my blood.

Fierce men conspire, they lie in wait for me,

Though LORD I have done them no wrong.

Arise and help me LORD for you are Almighty God.

I have not wronged them, yet they would attack me.

Rise up and punish those nations – you’re Israel’s God;

To traitors show no mercy LORD.

They prowl the city at evening; they snarl like dogs.

Their words spew out from their mouths; they are sharp as swords.

They think “Who hears us”, but you LORD laugh at them,

And scoff at nations who are like them.

You are my strength, you’re my fortress on you I rely.

You go before me and I will watch out for you LORD.

You’ll let me gloat over those who slander me.

You are my shield and cover me.

But LORD don’t kill them or else people may forget.

But LORD uproot them and in your might bring them down.

For their false words, let them be caught out in their pride;

For all their cursing and their lies.

And in your wrath LORD consume them till they’re no more,

Then earth will know you’re Jacob’s God.

They prowl the city at evening, snarling like dogs.

They look for food, howling as they do wander about.

But in the morning, I’ll sing of your love and strength;

In trouble you are my refuge LORD.

You are my fortress, my strength on you I rely,

And I will sing my praises to you.
