All day long men press their attack,

Men hotly pursue me all day long.

Slanderers pursue me all day long,

Attacking me in their pride.

Be merciful to me O God,

And when I am afraid,

I will trust in you whose word I praise;

What can mortal man do to me?

All day long they watch my steps;

They lurk and conspire to take my life.

On no account let then escape,

In your anger bring them down.

List my tears upon your scroll;

Record my lament within your book.

And then my foes, they will turn back.

By this I’ll know God’s for me.

I will fulfill my vows to you,

Present my thanks to you O God.

For you have saved my life from death,

My feet from stumbling.

That I might walk before my God,

Who is the light of life.

I will trust in him whose word I praise,

What can mortal man do to me?
