Psalm 52: Why do you boast of evil?

Listen on Spotify, Amazon or Apple Music
Why do you boast of evil, you mighty man?
Why do you boast through all the day long?
You’re a disgrace in the eyes of God;
Your tongue plots destruction;
It’s like a sharp razor.
And you love evil rather than goodness,
And falsehood rather than speaking the truth.
ou love deceit; every harmful word,
Which flows from your mouth
You deceitful of tongues!
Surely God will bring you down
To everlasting ruin:
He will snatch you up,
Tear you from your tent;
Uproot you from the land of the living.
The righteous man may see and will fear God;
And they will laugh, saying,
"Here is the man, Who did not make God his tower, his stronghold Trusted in wealth,
Grew strong, destroyed others!"
Surely God will bring you down
To everlasting ruin:
He will snatch you up,
Tear you from your tent;
Uproot you from the land of the living.
But I am like an olive tree growing,
Which flourishes in the house of our God;
I’ll trust in God
For His love is unfailing;
It lasts for ever
Forever and ever.
I’ll praise you Lord for all you have done;
Praise you with all of your saints:
Your name is good,
In this I will hope; With all of your people,
I’ll praise you, praise you, praise you,
Praise, praise you Lord.

Psalm 52 Reflection
Psalm 52 The doom of the wicked
The Hebrew title says this is a Psalm by David at the time of Doug’s betrayal. but the reference to the temple in verse eight would seem to make it later. Verses 1 to 4 describe the evil oppressor; verse 5 God certain reprisal. Verses eight and nine are a personal expression of trust and thanksgiving.
