Psalm 40: I waited patiently for God (Melody One)

Jeff Lowe: lead vocal, piano, keys, bass
Paul Critchley: piano
I waited patiently for God;
He turned to me and heard my cry,
He lifted me from mud and mire,
Out of the slimy pit.
He set my feet upon a rock
And gave me a firm place to stand.
He put a new song in my mouth,
A hymn of praise to God.
Blessed is the man who trusts the LORD,
And does not heed the pride of men:
All those who turn aside to bring
Worship to worthless gods.
For many wonders you have done LORD,
And many things you’ve planned for us.
They are too many to declare LORD,
Were I to speak of them.
A sacrifice you don’t require,
Instead my ears you’ve opened up,
And now I come to do your will,
Your law is in my heart.
I will not seal my lips up O LORD,
But speak to the world of you,
Your righteousness and your salvation,
Faithfulness and love.
Do not withhold your mercy LORD
Protect me with your love and truth,
For sin and trouble fall on me,
More than my heart can bear.
Come quickly LORD and save my life,
For many would put me to shame;
They’d bring disgrace to me and ruin.
Instead let them be shamed.
And may all those who seek the LORD,
Rejoice and be made glad in you.
May those who love salvation say.
“We will exalt the LORD”.
But as yet I am poor and needy,
And so may the LORD think of me.
Please don’t delay O LORD come quickly,
Help and deliver me.
And may all those who seek the LORD,
Rejoice and be made glad in you.
May those who love salvation say.
“We will exalt the LORD”.
