Psalm 37: Listen,trust in the LORD and do good

Jeff Lowe: lead vocal, backing vocals, piano, guitars, keys, bass, percussion
Listen, do not concern yourself with evil men,
Or be envious of those who do wrong;
For like the fresh grass they’ll soon wither and die,
Just like the green plants they’re soon gone.
But trust in the LORD and do good,
Enjoying the place where you live.
Take delight in the LORD and he will bless your life,
The desires of your heart he will give.
Now commit all your ways to the LORD, trust in him,
And his will in your life will be done.
Then his righteous reward will shine out like the dawn,
Blessings fall as the full noonday sun.
Be still and be quiet in the LORD,
Be patient and trust in his word.
Do not fret when the wicked succeed in their way,
When the schemes they have planned have occurred.
Don’t be angry but turn from your wrath.
Do not fret for to evil it leads.
For those who are evil will all be destroyed,
Those who hope in the LORD are all freed.
A little while later the wicked are gone;
Though you look for them they can’t be found.
But with peace and prosperity the LORD will bless,
And the meek will inherit the ground.
Though the wicked they plot ‘gainst the righteous,
And they gnash their teeth, scheme against them,
But the LORD knows a day which is coming about,
And he laughs at the fate of such men.
The wicked draw swords, they bend their bow,
To bring down the needy and poor;
To cut down the upright, but they are forestalled,
And their hearts are pierced by their own swords.
Far better the righteous have little,
Compared to the wealth of bad men;
For the power of the wicked is broken in two,
But the LORD lifts the righteous again.
The blameless spend their days under the LORD’s care;
Their inheritance it will endure.
In the times of disaster they’ll not fade away,
In the famine they’ve food, they’re secure.
But the wicked must surely perish,
For they’re like the flowers of the field.
The LORD’s enemies, they will all be consumed,
To the fire and the smoke they will yield.
The wicked will borrow but do not repay,
But the righteous will give generously.
And those the LORD blesses inherit the land,
Those he curses will never be free.
But the LORD firms the steps of the righteous,
Of the one who delights in his ways,
And though he may stumble, he will not fall down,
For the LORD with his hand on him stays.
Listen, once I was young but right now I am old
Yet I’ve not seen the righteous man lost.
His children bring blessing, they don’t beg for bread;
He is generous, not counting the cost.
So turn from your sin and do good,
Then you will always dwell in the land.
For the LORD loves the just and the faithful and true,
He will hold him and not loose his hand.
Wrong doers will all be destroyed,
Likewise all who come from that line,
But the righteous inherit the land where they live,
They will dwell there for ever through time.
The mouths of the righteous speak wisdom and truth,
And their tongues speak of all that is just.
For the law of their God is always in their hearts,
Standing firm, for in God they do trust.
But the wicked lay traps for the righteous,
Their intent is to put them to death.
But the LORD does not leave them, they are not condemned,
When at trial they faint for their breath.
Listen hope in the LORD God and keep to his ways,
He’ll exalt you, in safety you’ll stand.
The wicked are all gone and you’ll see them fall,
And you will inherit the land.
I have seen how the wicked men flourish,
Like a tree standing in a green place,
But he’s soon passed away and his life is no more,
Though I looked I could not see his face.
Consider the blameless, observe the upright,
For those who seek peace keep their place.
But sinners are doomed and they’ll be destroyed,
There’s no future for them in their race.
But the good man is saved by the LORD,
He’s his stronghold when trouble abounds.
The LORD helps and saves, he delivers his life,
From the wicked, for his love surrounds.
Yes the good man is saved by the LORD
And they take their refuge in him.
The LORD helps and saves, he delivers his life,
And they take refuge in him.
