I've seen the Lord

While it was dark, on Easter’s morning,

Mary Magdalene went to the tomb of God.

She saw the cave its entrance yawning,

No stone could block the path her feet now trod.

They’ve taken Jesus from the tomb

They’ve moved my Lord right from his tomb.

Where can I find Him?

Where have they put Him?

Where is Jesus now, my Lord has disappeared.

Then Peter ran with John beside him,

Running faster it was John first reached that place.

And saw the linen strips were lying there

And the folded cloth which covered Jesus’ face.

Then Peter rushed in and John followed after

When John went in he understood.

Don’t ask where to find him

Cos’ Jesus has risen

Jesus is risen and he’s left this tomb for good.

Disciples gone, Mary was crying

And still she wept, then in the tomb were seen.

Two angels all in white and seated

At the head and foot where Jesus’ body had been.

The angels asked her ‘ Woman why are you crying’?

Because they’ve taken my Lord away

Where can I find Him?

Where have they put Him?

Where is Jesus now, my Lord has disappeared.

And then she turned saw Jesus standing

But she didn’t realise that it was Him.

“Woman”, he said “Why are you crying

And who is he you’re looking for within?”

Now Mary thinking he was the gardener,

Said “if you’ve carried my Lord away.

Tell me where have you put Him

Tell me where I can find Him

Tell me, and I’ll go and get Him back”.

Then Jesus spoke just one word “Mary”,

And she turned and recognised it was the Lord.

“Master” she cried. She longed to hold him.

“No Mary wait until I’m first restored .

Go instead and tell my brothers

That I return to my father and yours,

To my God and your God.”

So Mary went quickly,

She told them all the news ‘I’ve seen the LORD!”
